As we use the free resources on already running PCs to do massive calculation tasks, we increase the capacity utilisation of these PCs. On the one hand this increases overall power consumption of the system, but not as much as an additional computer would.

Increasing the CPU usage of an existing system is more energy efficient than adding new computers to do calculations. 

Consequently vSwarm helps saving energy.
